Greenfield is not a factory.

It is the private workshop of an appalachian craftsman. These instruments are as much works of art as they are fine instruments. There are almost as many Greenfield violins in the hands of art collectors as are owned by master musicians. These are heirloom quality instruments that will be handed down from generation to generation

Sales of Greenfield violins are handled on a one to one basis. Each Greenfield instrument is an expression of Howard's love of woodcraft.  Selling one is a very personal thing.  Howard likes to know a little about the people who own his work, and a musician  looking to procure a one of a kind instrument like a Greenfield would want to know the maker of their instrument.

Howard gets a special joy from hearing someone making music in front of an audience with one of his violins. On more than one occasion an artist has been compelled to share with the audience that his violin is unique and that the maker was in the audience

That is the essence of a Greenfield. Pride of the maker, pride of the owner.
