How I Started
In November, 2003, my life long friend Clifton Stubblefield had just completed his handmade violin. During a visit to my workshop he urged me to build a violin in my shop using my power tools where possible.
I did not have a clue what would be involved, but he brought me books and plans, and after studying them, I saw it as a challenge and promised to build one violin.
Cliff brought me his Stradivarious model form, and depending on his violin knowledge, I completed my first violin in January 2004. Hearing the first sounds coming from my violin in the hands of Cliff was all that was needed to hook me as a violin maker. I have used the combination of our last names as the label name of my instruments, " GREENFIELD ".
Since that day in January, I have made many new violins and repaired several other instruments. All of my instruments have a pleasant tone and vary from violin to violin. I listen to the advice of an excellent violin player, Dr. Mack Snoderly who has played all my violins, and adjust the tones as he recommends. Since I am only an amateur violin player but a fairly good woodworker, I focus on the craftmanship, artistry, and beauty of my violins.
I would like to express my thanks to Clifton Stubblefield, Dr. Mack Snoderly, and Wayne Edmondson for their help and advice in my attempt to make quality instruments.

Violin Sales
Sales of Greenfield Violins are handled on a one to one basis. Each Greenfield instrument is an expression of my love of woodcraft. I would like to know a little about the people who own my work, and a musician desiring a one of a kind instrument like a Greenfield violin would want to know the maker of their instrument
That is the essence of a Greenfield. Pride of the maker, Pride of the owner.
